How to make your Super Bowl party SUPER (and warm).
With the Polar Vortex bearing down on us once again, this is a good year to host a Super Bowl party at home by your cozy Quadra-Fire fireplace or stove. Whether it’s just two of you, or you invite all your friends, it can be memorable for more than just football. Here’s how…
Do Get Into the Spirit
Put stakes on the game – and the commercials! Everyone will get into the spirit, even your non-football crazed friends.
- Over/Under Wagers – Before the game starts, have someone predict what the combined total score for the two teams will be: for example, Broncos 32 and Seahawks 17, for a total of 49 points. Then everyone at the party wagers whether they think the total combined scores will be “over” or “under” that number (49). So if the final score is 45, everyone who bet “under” would win. What they win is up to you!
- Best Commercial – during the game, have someone keep track of the commercials that everyone liked the most. Then have each person cast a votes for his/her favorite commercial, and pick the winning commercial for your party. It’ll make for some fun Facebook posts and banter at coffee stations and water coolers the next day.
Do Finger Food
Super Bowls were made for grazing – from kickoff to final score. Put out a spread of food for nibbling on throughout the game. Serve easy stuff like nachos and vegetable platters, and all the fixings for make-your-own sandwiches. Preparing everything ahead of time means you can watch the game, and the commercials. Even better yet, ask each guest to bring an appetizer to share and you’re done!
Do Some Bevies
Stock a cooler with ice and plenty of adult bevies, if your guests enjoy them. Get a variety of fun beers for people to try, and have some wine on hand for the non-brew types. Be sure to work in non-alcoholic choices too, like different flavors of soda and the mainstay – bottled water.
Its Super Bowl time – smack dab in the middle of the coldest and snowiest winter many of us can remember. So stay home, invite your friends and enjoy the warm fire of your hearth! And for the lucky folks actually going to the game, let’s hope the stadium doesn’t look like this…
Enjoy the game (and commercials)! From all of us at Quadra-Fire.
