How our stoves burn (and burn again) to make the most of your cord wood

Quadra-Fire wood stoves: they’re like trusty work horses, rugged and dependable for years of service. If you have one, you already know this. But what you might not know is HOW they do it. So let’s open the hood and take a look.

Quadra-Fire wood stoves are outfitted with our patented Four Point Quad-Burn system, which burns and re-burns wood as well as gases and smoke up to four times. Every bit of energy in the wood is fully utilized and turned into heat, which means fires burn longer with less trips to the wood pile and less ash to clean up. And because it’s non-catalytic, Quadra-Fire systems do not degrade in performance over time. Interested in seeing it in action? Watch this video.

Heating with wood in your super-efficient Quadra-Fire stove means you’re using renewable fuel instead of fossil fuel – and it can save you money too. But there’s more. You take efficiency to the max by “zone heating” the rooms where you spend the most time.

Here’s how it works… Most of us have central furnaces that push large amounts of heat through the duct system – they’re designed to heat the whole house equally. With zone heating, you reduce energy consumption (and your heating bill) by simply turning down the central thermostat and using your wood stove to heat your main living areas. If your home has a larger footprint, many stoves will heat big areas, like the Quadra-Fire 5700 Step Top wood stove.

We call it “heating where you live.” The Hearth, Patio and Barbecue Association calls it efficient, since depending on your circumstances, zone heating can reduce heating bills by as much as 20-40 percent.

So why wait any longer? Summer is the perfect time to recycle your old, inefficient wood-burning stove and replace it with a new Quadra-Fire. Check out all the options here.
